As we close out the year, the latest edition of Partyline celebrates the power of rural health research that is grounded in community, culture and connection.
Issue 93: Advancing Rural Health Research showcases how research is not only happening in rural, regional and remote Australia – it is being shaped by the people who live and work there.
Across this edition, you’ll discover stories of research in action: from clinical trials being brought closer to home in rural NSW and the ACT, to mobile trials units reaching communities previously left out of innovation.
You’ll read about farmers’ gatherings becoming sites of health research, field days delivering oral cancer screening straight to the paddock, and communities co-designing new approaches to pain, ageing and wellbeing.
This issue also highlights the people behind the research – students choosing to stay and serve, clinicians strengthening rural supervision and training, Aboriginal-led research grounded in knowledge and culture, and grassroots networks reshaping emergency care. Together, these stories show that the most impactful research begins with listening, trust and place-based understanding.
