Department of Health, Disability and Ageing
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is a key partner of the National Rural Health Alliance. The Department supports the Alliance through Health Peak and Advisory Bodies Program funding linked to the National Preventive Health Strategy 2021-2030. The Department also partners with the Alliance on many of our key events such as the National Rural Health Conference and the Rural and Remote Scientific Symposium.
Centre for Palliative Care
The National Rural Health Alliance is a partner with the Centre for Palliative Care, a department of St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and a Collaborative Centre of The University of Melbourne on the CarerHelp Rural Connect Project. This partnership is funded through the Palliative Care Projects funding of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.
HESTA
The National Rural Health Alliance is proud to partner with HESTA, a leading industry super fund with deep connections to health and community services. HESTA invests in and is for people who make the world better. Their Super with impact is the positive outcome they create by supporting members to face the future with confidence. They are gutsy advocates for a fair and healthy community and their values align with those of the National Rural Health Alliance. HESTA sponsors the National Rural Health Conference dinner biennially and supports the work of the Alliance.
Lung Foundation Australia
The National Rural Health Alliance is partnering with Lung Foundation Australia to strengthen information and awareness about the National Lung Cancer Screening Program in rural and remote communities. Together, we will develop tailored resources that provide clear, relevant information to people at high risk of lung cancer, supporting earlier detection and improved health outcomes.
Lung Foundation Australia believes that breath is a gift, and this belief guides their commitment to advancing lung health. Through research, advocacy and tailored support programs, Lung Foundation Australia work to enhance the lives of those living with lung disease and lung cancer and to ensure every Australian can enjoy and protect the gift of breath.
Mareeba and Communities Family Healthcare
The National Rural Health Alliance (NRHA) is partnering with Mareeba and Communities Family Healthcare (MCFHC) to trial elements of the Primary care Rural Integrated Multidisciplinary Health Service (PRIM-HS) model funded through a Department of Health and Aged Care Innovative Models of Care (IMOC) grant. The model aims to overcome many of the barriers to attracting and retaining a rural health workforce by bringing all rural stakeholders including local government, community, health service clinicians, hospital and health services and industry together. Together stakeholders will discuss, plan and work to provide the services needed by a local community. The National Rural Health Alliance is partnering with MCFHC and the key role of the NRHA will be to lead the evaluation of the trial.
Monash University
The National Rural Health Alliance is a partner with Monash University on a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) research project Consumer’s preferences for telehealth psychology in rural and remote areas. The research will examine viable and efficient ways to invest in the Better Access program to increase the uptake of the telehealth model of mental health care in rural Australia. Issues that will be explored include (but are not limited to) accessibility, affordability, feasibility and acceptability of telehealth services for consumers, general practitioners (GPs) and psychologists under Better Access program, through co-design of solutions, and economic analysis.
Nous Group
Nous Group supported the NRHA in delivering the 2023 Evidence Base for Additional Investment in Rural Health in Australia and the 2025 Forgotten Health Spend report .
NOUS continues to work closely with NRHA and key stakeholders to extend and refresh the analysis for the next report, due for release in late 2026.
