Mental health and wellbeing of people in rural and remote areas is a high priority issue for
the Alliance. Of particular concern is the ongoing inequity in funding for mental health
services for rural, regional and remote areas, the absence of services when they are clearly
needed and the ongoing fragmentation and lack of a coordination to support the workforce
that does exist.
In this submission, the Alliance has focused specifically on addressing questions raised by
the Productivity Commission with regards to training needs of the workforce, as per the
Social and Economic Benefits of Improving Mental Health Issues Paper.
