The National Rural Health Alliance has responded to Ahpra’s public consultation on the review of the supervised practice framework. The purpose of this consultation was to examine how to make working in Australia quicker, simpler and cheaper for internationally qualified practitioners where this can be done safely. This consultation was based on recommendations from the Independent review of Australia’s regulatory settings relating to overseas health practitioners, led by Ms Robyn Kruk AO (known as the Kruk review).
Recommendations from the National Rural Health Alliance include a stronger focus on addressing barriers to providing supervised practice in rural and remote areas and additional support mechanisms for supervisors operating in rural and remote Australia.
