The Alliance has made a submission to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee’s Inquiry into Rural, regional and remote Medicare access and funding.
In this submission, the Alliance analyses the persistent structural inequities in Medicare funding and access for rural Australians and calls for systemic reform to ensure care is equitable regardless of geography. Based on extensive member feedback and engagement, the Alliance provides comprehensive recommendations to the Committee, including to support a Rural Health Strategy and Fund, rural-proofed Medicare reforms, and targeted investments in workforce, telehealth, and digital infrastructure to deliver sustainable, fit-for-purpose healthcare in rural and remote communities.
