The National Rural Health Alliance (the Alliance) is pleased to provide a submission for the 2020–21
Federal Budget.
The Alliance is the peak body for rural and remote health in Australia. We represent 41 member
bodies (see Appendix A) and our vision is for healthy and sustainable rural, regional and remote
(RRR) communities.
The Alliance has two proposals targeting rural, regional and remote Australian communities. The first
proposal is to create six place-based health and wellbeing networks that will be managed by the
National Rural Health Alliance. The second proposal is a comprehensive package aimed at integrating
national digital health strategies and increasing the uptake of digital health initiatives, digital health
literacy and connectivity; it will have some components delivered by external organisations and
others by the Alliance. A summary of each proposal is provided below.
