The National Rural Health Alliance made a submission to the New South Wales (NSW) Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding to capture the information that was provided at a verbal hearing with the Commission on 6 December 2023. The submission covers a range of background information including a summary of the Evidence Base for Additional Investment in Rural Health in Australia ; the evidence for additional support for rural health coming out of the mid-term review of the National Health Reform Agreement, the value of appropriate levels of block funding for rural hospitals; the benefits of the Alliance’s Primary care Rural Integrated Multidisciplinary Health Services (PRIM-HS) model and a case study from Bogan Shire Council about the cost of delivering primary care in a rural town.
