There has been much discussion and evidence presented on workforce collaboration. We recommend investing in regional workforce planning that recognises the unique context of each region and community. This will focus the collective resources of the region to plan and action sustainable and long term workforce solutions. Western NSW primary health workforce planning project, involving 50+ organisations, is one example of bringing the sectors together to identify priority actions, co-design and evaluate collaborative strategies.
