15NRHC Recommendation - 03/27/2019 - 05:22

Devise and fund career pathways for allied health professionals working in rural and remote settings. A
potential career structure could extend beyond the acute sector and into primary and community health. Early career allied health professionals require a structured graduate program, as is established practice in nursing and medicine. Greater emphasis should be placed on making higher grade clinical positions available in rural and remote health care environments, included advanced scope and generalist pathways which would encourage professionally mature and more senior allied practitioners to stay in rural practice, rather than migrating back to the city to seek a higher grade position.

Comments

The introduction of a structured graduate program for allied health must be cognisant of the various practice areas including those that may be outside the health funding and policy areas.

And a program could if we bust silos go across the areas.
