15NRHC Recommendation - 03/25/2019 - 09:33

Government and Universities could create a program of training for “Community Health Workers” targeting small remote towns with a single health practitioner such as a remote area nurse. These workers would be drawn from the town population and could be trained to provide basic essential services in a defined scope of practice, supporting the remote nurse and visiting doctors, providing a source of health services for the community and support for the nurse. They would be reimbursed for the time spent in this role.
