Your postcode should not dictate access to healthcare

Your postcode should never be a proxy for your life expectancy.

This national awareness campaign calls out a hard truth: Australians living outside major cities consistently receive less health funding, weaker infrastructure, and poorer outcomes—despite contributing disproportionately to the nation’s economic and social fabric.

The objective is to shift this from a “rural issue” to a shared national problem, mobilising metropolitan and regional Australians alike to recognise that inequitable health investment undermines productivity, fairness, and social cohesion.

The message is blunt and non-negotiable: a modern, prosperous Australia cannot tolerate a system where geography determines access to care, quality of services, or chances of survival.

People in rural Australia are sicker, die 12 to 16 years earlier and have less access to healthcare compared to city people. This is not acceptable. We aim to improve this inequity with the work we do.

A health system reset is required—starting with funding, infrastructure, and political will.

We work with rural communities, the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, local governments, and other entities to improve health, disability and aged care access, funding or standards for rural, remote and regional Australians.
