One in seven (14.2%) of Australian adults have signs of chronic kidney disease (CKD) (ABS 2025). According to the latest data, people living in Remote and Very Remote areas of Australia die from CKD at twice the rate of those in Major Cities. Among First Nation Australians, the death rate from chronic kidney disease is 4.1 times higher than that of non-Indigenous Australians (AIHW 2024).
