The fourth edition of the annual Pain Revolution Rural Outreach cycle tour will be heading to regional Victoria on March 7-14, 2020. The ride will launch the Local Pain Educator Program in Victoria, giving residents access to latest information and support to prevent and overcome persisting pain.
Pain Revolution is a collective of researchers, clinicians, consumers, industry partners and peak bodies working together to improve access to best practice pain care and education in rural and regional communities across Australia.
The Rural Outreach Tour is a high profile pain specific health promotion initiative. The weeklong event brings pedal-powered passionate pain professionals into regional communities to share the latest in pain science and best practice care. During the tour, free education events are run for both community members and health professionals in Geelong, Frankston, Wonthaggi, Traralgon, Sale, Bairnsdale, Orbost, Omeo, Bright and Wangaratta. During the day the Brain Bus will be set up in the town centre, providing interactive pain science education using illusions and virtual reality.
The Local Pain Educator Program follows on from the tour by providing scholarships to community-based health professionals to become Local Pain Educators. The two-year program offers comprehensive training, mentoring and resources for local clinicians to develop sustainable pain
management strategies and deliver pain education within their communities. Local Pain Educators will go on to join a national network of higher trained clinicians for sustained professional development, peer exchange and support. In 2020, scholarships will be open to clinicians in regional and rural communities in both Gippsland and Western Victoria regions.
We are all about collaboration, if you are interested in getting involved or would like to find out more about available Local Pain Educator Program scholarships, you can check out www.painrevolution.org or email [email protected].
