Better Together in nipaluna/Hobart, March 2019 – Early bird registration now open!

  • Early bird registrations now open

Early bird registration is now open for the 15th National Rural Health Conference, to be held in nipaluna/Hobart on 24-27 March 2019.

Better Together! is the theme of the 15th Conference and the program will highlight how we can work better together to improve the health and wellbeing of the seven million people who live and work in rural, regional and remote Australia.

The Conference will be a four-day event providing learning and networking opportunities to public and private healthcare professionals, health consumer advocates and carers; students and researchers; and interested people from health-related sectors such as education, transport and housing in rural, regional and remote areas.

The opening session will acknowledge that we are all in this together, and that we are all strong but are even stronger when we work together. Better together in a global sense means across disciplines and professions, across cultures, gender and age. It means working nationally and internationally, with States, Territories and neighbouring countries. It means the non-health sectors such as education, transport, employment, housing and community services collaborating and acknowledging their role in improving health outcomes.

The second day will focus on the evidence and why it is different in rural and remote areas. It will look at the current status of health in rural and remote areas and why some conditions are more prevalent. It will also highlight good examples of where health systems are working well.

Day three will focus on the determinants of health. The morning session will cover the social determinants of health while the afternoon session will address community and ecological perspectives, providing a unique understanding of the reality of how the determinants of health impact on patients in rural Australia.

The final day will be about future success. Sessions will include examples of where we are doing well; how things might look in the future; and how the health sector might change or redesign rural health services to succeed.

The program will include six plenary sessions, 50 concurrent sessions, 70 exhibitors, 30 poster displays, three workshops, four pre-Conference events and a gala dinner – all of which is not to be missed!

The Conference is managed by the National Rural Health Alliance.

The Conference website will continue to be updated as the program develops. The program will be published in December – but if you want to get in early and save on the registration fee, register at the early bird rate now!
