Child injury risk survey

A new research project is being conducted to investigate the ways behaviours, attitudes and lifestyles on Victorian farms are contributing to farm-related injuries in children.

The experience of growing up on a farm is a wonderful one for most children. However, children under the age of 15 represent 15 per cent of all farm-related deaths in Australia. Despite efforts to reduce them, this statistic has remained constant for over 20 years. This has to change.

This study aims to develop a greater understanding of children’s exposure to occupational risk on farms by exploring their contact with farm hazards, risk-taking behaviours and the use of safety measures.

If you are a parent or guardian of a child aged 5 to 14 years in rural Victoria, follow the link below to participate in research around child safety on farms.
