World Health Day - My health, my right

Wednesday, 10 April 2024

The Alliance Chief Executive Susi Tegen spoke at the World Health Day Webinar hosted by the Climate and Health Alliance under the theme ‘My health, my right in a changing climate’.

The Chief Executive reaffirmed the Alliance’s commitment to health as a basic human right, not a privilege determined by where you live. In Australia, rural communities face a stark $850 per person healthcare annual underspend compared to urban areas, highlighting a significant disparity in access to essential health services.

Climate change will exacerbate existing inequalities for rural communities, reinforcing the need for major investment in rural health to ensure a right to quality health services.
