Strong interest and endless possibilities - 13th National Rural Health Conference

Monday, 1 December 2014

The call for abstracts has now closed, with over 400 vying for a place on the Conference program in Darwin next May.  This strong interest will ensure a large number of high quality presentations.

The abstracts are now being reviewed and the successful ones will help determine the shape of the Conference program - to be available in outline form before Christmas. Authors will be invited to give 10- and 20-minute presentations, or to speak in workshops or colloquiums. The Conference will include a range of stimulating keynote presenters on topics such as health service models, arts and health, mutual learning with PNG, the health workforce, ehealth, and integrated care. Between them the concurrent and keynote presentations will showcase the Conference's strong commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of rural and remote Australia and our region.

The Conference program will provide many excellent opportunities for rural people to share their experiences and strategies for delivering successful health services in even the most remote locations. Over 50 abstracts deal with the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Others confirm ongoing concerns about access and equity (35), education (20), chronic conditions (11), climate change, ehealth, mental health, cardio vascular disease, poor oral health and diabetes.

There has also been strong interest in the Exhibition with over 35 booths already sold.  A list of current exhibitors is available on the Conference website. We encourage you to visit the websites of these Conference exhibitors.

Opportunities are also now available to promote your organisation in the Conference eSatchel.

You can keep in touch with all 13th Conference developments on the Conference website.
