Applications for the Rural Australia Medical Undergraduate Scholarship (RAMUS) Scheme open on the 5th of November 2014 and close at 5pm on the 12th of January 2015. The RAMUS Scheme is funded by the Australian Government and designed to offset some of the additional costs borne by medical students from rural, regional or remote Australia. Successful applicants will receive un-bonded scholarship worth $10,000 a year while completing a standard medical degree at their chosen university.
Approximately 130 RAMUS scholarships are available to be awarded in 2014 through a competitive application process. Successful applicants will be selected on the basis of the proportion of their formative years spent in rural areas (weighted to give some priority to more remote areas), their demonstrated financial need, and their commitment to working in rural, regional or remote Australia in the future.
The online application form and full details of the eligibility and selection criteria for the scholarship are available at the RAMUS website at http://ramus.ruralhealth.org.au
