The Alliance’s recommendations on rural health workforce improvement were mentioned in the recently released report of the NSW Legislative Assembly Select Committee on Remote, Rural and Regional Health Inquiry into the implementation of recommendations relating to workforce, workplace culture and funding for remote, rural and regional health.
We recommended that the NSW Government should be working with the Australian Government and other jurisdictions to develop a national rural health strategy which could be funded and supported through a rural and remote schedule to the next National Health Reform Agreement (2025-2030). Our place-based Primary care Rural Integrated Multidisciplinary Health Services (PRIM-HS) model was mentioned as a viable model to adopt while our Bogan Shire case study was highlighted as an example of what a local government has had to do to sustain primary healthcare services in their community.
