Presenting at the Albury Wodonga Regional Health Summit on 1 March 2024, the Alliance Chief Executive Susi Tegen said the key to regional prosperity is that rural communities have an intact cultural, economic, political and social life, where people have entrepreneurial opportunities and good access to services such as health and education.

“Health is an investment. Regions that prioritise health attract families and build their local workforce,” Ms Tegen said.

“They bring capital investment to the regions. They also have a trickle-down effect of more money circulating in the local economy for local businesses to thrive.

“The healthcare workforce in a community cannot afford to work in isolation. Planning must occur with communities, based on the population’s health needs,” she said.
