The Alliance Chief Executive Susi Tegen spoke to ABC Online on the role of nurses in the bush and called for more funding to be allocated to bush nursing as well as greater recruitment of health professionals from rural and remote areas.
Ms Tegen said there was often a “revolving door” of fly-in-fly-out health practitioners in remote communities.
“When you have a changing of doctors, nurses, health practitioners every year or every half year, people don’t build a relationship and they don’t trust that those people understand them,” she said.
The story is also featured on ABC Radio National Country Breakfast with Clint Jasper.
