Care and management of younger and older Australians living with dementia

The NRHA submission to the Senate Community Affairs Committee inquiry on the care and management of Australians living with dementia and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) reflects, among other things, relevant recommendations from the 12th National Rural Health Conference, Adelaide, 2013. To achieve good quality care for people with dementia wherever they live, there needs to be more widespread understanding of the condition, including on the part of health professionals, policy makers and support groups. As ever, the Alliance's particular interest is in the impact of dementia in rural and remote areas and any particular characteristics or dynamics of the issue in rural circumstances.
