The Australian Journal of Rural Health (AJRH) released its latest issue Vol 32, Issue 4 which comprises systematic reviews, original research, short reports, commentary and Letters to the Editor.
The Editorial is written by former AJRH Editor-in-Chief Dr Russell Roberts with co-authors, who are leading a global movement to improve mental health research in regional and rural communities. The paper titled, ‘International Declaration of rural mental health research: 10 guiding principles and standards’, which was first launched in Utrecht, the Netherlands, aims to improve how researchers involve and engage rural communities in research about vital public health issues. The research resulted from evidence suggesting a disparity in mental health funding and access between metropolitan and regional areas.
The From the Alliance article titled, ‘Who carries the extra load? The added responsibility of end-of-life care for rural families,’ is written by Senior Research Fellow of the Centre for Palliative Care, Kristina Thomas and the Alliance Policy and Strategy Development Director, Margaret Deerain.
