If you want to contribute to improved health and wellbeing for the people of Australia's country communities, you should consider registering for the 13th National Rural Health Conference in Darwin, 24-27 May 2015.
This will be a great opportunity for you to investigate and support the people, places and possibilities of rural and remote Australia. Early-bird registration is now open. The 13th Conference will be the first one to be held in Darwin. It will have the same mixture of presentations, events and networking opportunities as earlier National Rural Health Conferences.
They have set the benchmark for effective, enjoyable and well-managed events of this nature. Highly-regarded local ABC Radio sports presenter, Charlie King, will be the Conference Master of Ceremonies. As usual there will be special workshops, colloquiums, keynote and concurrent presentations on a wide range of topics.
Located in Darwin, the 13th Conference will have a special northern Australian feel, with multicultural elements unique to the Top End. A preliminary program will be available in December. There will be plenty of opportunity for social networking to meet new and old friends, including at the Conference Dinner sponsored by HESTA.
The local Darwin arts and cultural community will be heavily involved, which guarantees a good program of arts and health, dealing with both its educational and therapeutic aspects. Bring your views to Darwin to help celebrate the positives about life in rural and remote Australia and to ensure that, as soon as possible, everyone in rural and remote areas has equivalent opportunities and health as people in our major cities.
This important event should be accessible to most people, thanks to core support from the Department of Health through its funding to the NRHA. Other supporters of the Conference include NT Health, the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute at the Australian National University (APHCRI, ANU), HESTA, and the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet.
Early Bird Registration is $1,210 and is available until 31 January 2015.
