NRHA overview of the AIHW's 2011 Report, "Australian health expenditure by remoteness," and the NRHA companion document, "Australia's health system needs rebalancing". It summarises the less equitable access to healthcare for rural people that it is currently possible to measure by geographical region. These include primary care, diagnostic, specialist services and other out of hospital services;PBS scripts; and non-acute hospital care and same-day hospital services. Recommendations are made for improving data collection and access to health care for people living in rural and remote communities.
