Opening statement to a public hearing of the Standing Committee on Regional Australia on the use of ‘fly-in, fly-out’ workforce practices in rural and remote Australia

NRHA appeared before the public hearing of the Senate Standing Committee on Regional Australia on the use of ‘fly-in, fly-out’ workforce practices in rural and remote Australia. The opening statement called for: program funding to account for the full costs of providing FIFO services; consideration of the impacts of the model on local providers; and the need for more information about the costs and benefits of the model on personal and family health and community sustainability.
