The Government’s dental reform package recognises that people in rural and remote areas are among the most under-served when it comes to oral health. It targets oral health expenditures to services for children as an investment for the long-term, as well as adults on low incomes. In conjunction with dental workforce and infrastructure measures announced in the last two Federal Budgets, this is good news for people in rural and remote Australia.
The Alliance continues to emphasise the urgent need for a better-distributed oral health workforce so that the benefits are fully accessible in the bush. See the Alliance’s Media Release A stronger, more targeted approach to oral health care for the long-term.
